The Top 20 Songs of 2011-Part One

There have been hundreds of songs that have premiered on radio waves and MP3 stores this year.   In this two-part special blog, readers will have the opportunity to listen to the songs that got in our head, were overplayed on the radio and were performed countless of times this year by the artists or as covers.

20. It Will Rain-Bruno Mars

One of the best things that came from the Twilight: Breaking Dawn-Part One soundtrack was Bruno Mars-penned song.  Many Twi-Hards thought that this song was perfect describing the relationship between Jacob Black and Bella Swan.

19. Tonight Tonight-Hot Chelle Rae

“Tonight Tonight” was considered by many newspapers including The Sacramento Bee and USA Today to be considered to be a summer anthem.  It turns out they were right, as radio listeners across the country heard this song countless times on almost every radio station in the country.

18. Loser Like Me-Glee Cast

This song was one of the very first original songs that premiered on the FOX hit-dramedy.  While Lea Michele and Cory Monteith lead the cast in the upbeat song, credit goes to the series music producer Adam Anders and iconic songwriter Max Martin to leading a terrific group of songwriters for creating this amazing gem.

17. Where Them Girls At-David Guetta, Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj

One of the most successful collaborations of the year was “Where Them Girls At” from David Guetta’s successful Nothing but the Beat.   This song featured smooth beats from the European D.J. and clever rap lyrics from Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj.

16. Where You At-Jennifer Hudson

This R. Kelly & Harvey Mason, Jr. penned song appeared on the Oscar-winning actress’ second studio album.   Hudson delivered an impeccable vocal performance that showed her vocal range.

15. Judas-Lady Gaga

 When Mother Monster unveiled her new album Born This Way earlier this year, she caused quite the controversy with this song and its’ music video.   During her music video of this song, the Catholic League’s President Bill Donahue blasted her for Gaga’s portrayal of Mary Magdalene.

14. I Need A

, Dr. Dre and Skylar Grey

“I Need A Doctor” is basically about the relationship between Eminem and his mentor: legendary Dr. Dre.  With killer raps that will give listeners the chills from Eminem and Dr. Dre to the vocal assists from Skylar Grey, this is one of the most memorable raps of 2011.

13. Moves Like Jagger-Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera

 Since this song’s debut on Maroon 5’s lead vocalist Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera’s hit show: The Voice, this song has been played numerously on radios across the country.  Even Dancing with the Stars Season 13 participant Carson Kressley and his partner Anna Trebunskaya performed their first dance to this song.

12. What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)-Kelly Clarkson

Original American Idol Kelly Clarkson came back swinging in her inspirational title track of her fifth studio album.   Despite this song being leaked earlier this year, it has helped Clarkson become stronger as a singer.

11. Every Teardrop is A Waterfall- Coldplay

 “Every Teardrop is A Waterfall” helped the world prepare for Coldplay’s new album: Mylo Xyloto.  From the song’s catchy lyrics and the band’s musicianship, fans were ready to welcome the band back onto their radios.
