Today, we will feature the first half of the Top 10 Songs and tomorrow, the series will conclude with the best songs of the 2010s…so far!
10. “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum
Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Know” is one of the best country songs of the 2010s hands down. The group’s three-part harmonies and brilliant sound made this track so memorable and it earned four Grammys including Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
The group performed a medley of songs including “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” and their signature song during the 2011 Grammys. To watch this performance, click here: http://youtu.be/mpy-7ob0gQI
9. “We Are Young” by fun. featuring Janelle Monae
One song that grew on me last year was fun’s first single off of its sophomore album: Some Nights. “We Are Young” showcased musicianship from the trio and guest vocalist Janelle Monae, who had great vocal chemistry with lead vocalist Nate Ruess. Currently, the track is up for three Grammy Awards including Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
8. “Till the World Ends” by Britney Spears
“Till the World Ends” is an incredible dance track that showcased the Princess of Pop at her best. Frequent collaborators Max Martin, Dr. Luke and Billboard did a terrific job combining Britney’s hypnotic vocals with their signature club beats that made everyone around the world dance.
7. “California Gurls” by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg
If you asked anyone what was the summer anthem to 2010, they would probably state that it would be Katy Perry’s “California Girls.” This bubblegum pop track was originally an answer song to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” and instantly transported the song’s listener to the Golden State; where they encountered an amazing rap from Snoop Dogg and of course, terrific vocals from Katy herself.
Katy Perry’s music video for “California Gurls” brought everyone to her Candy Land paradise. To take the trip, click here: http://youtu.be/F57P9C4SAW4
6. “On the Floor” by Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull
Many people consider this track to be a comeback song for Jennifer Lopez, whose previous singles during the latter 2000s bombed. “On the Floor” was an intriguing dance pop groove that featured J.Lo’s seductive vocals and strong rap solos from Pitbull.
I do not own all of the tracks and videos that were featured in this article. They belong to the artists and their respective music companies.
