Last night, the Battles, Round Two made its debut on The Voice!
Several fan-favorites rose to occasion (Audra, T.J., and Delvin), while others (Cierra and Josh) found themselves eliminated from the competition.
Before we get to tonight’s battles, here is where our teams stand:
Team Adam: Christina Grimmie & Delvin Choice
Team Blake: Audra McLaughlin & Jake Worthington
Team Shakira: Patrick Thomson & Tess Boyer (Stolen)
Team Usher: T.J. Wilkins & Josh Kaufman (Stolen)

The best battle of the night (and one of the best battles of the series) was Team Blake’s Sisaundra Lewis and Biff Gore. Both of them represented the R&B/Soul singer genre and the “God Gave Me You” singer only needed one. The seasoned veterans chose James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s, Man’s World.” This song was covered by Juliet Simms in Season Two and Team Adam’s Judith Hill and Karina Iglesias back in Season Four…so both had big shoes to fill. While Biff took the story-teller route, Sisaundra’s magnificent range blew me away. After a four coach standing ovation, Blake chose to continue to work with Sisaundra, but Adam made a huge mistake in not picking Biff.
In all honesty, Shakira had a mixed night of battles. Ddendyl and Deja Hall’s battle was abysmal and I thought that Ddendyl was wrongly eliminated. I wished they showed Kristen Merlin and Emily B’s battle because both of them were more worthy of screen time than the ladies.
Usher concluded the night with a battle between best friends. Rockers Stevie Jo and Morgan Wallen faced off with One Direction’s “Story of My Life.” They have huge shoes to fill as Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler did an excellent job with the song last season. Both friends gave me chills with their outstanding harmonies and individual vocal performances. While Usher stayed loyal to his former one-chair-turn (Stevie Jo), Adam stole Morgan from the “U Got It Bad” singer.
