Happy Valentine’s Day!
This edition of Throwback Tuesday focuses on the best 1990s love songs that you need to have in your MP3 player. These selections will help you set the mood during your Valentine’s Day celebrations.
A Song for You (Ray Charles)
Have you been a bad boyfriend/girlfriend lately? Leon Russell’s “A Song for You” is the perfect song to make up after hard arguments. This song has been covered by dozens of artists including the Carpenters, Herbie Hancock and Christina Aguilera, Elliot Yamin and Whitney Houston. But the best cover of this song was Ray Charles’ poignant version from his 1993 My World album.
Since recording the song, Ray Charles performed the song up until his death in 2004. Click here to watch one of Ray’s last performances of “A Song for You:” http://youtu.be/jgZTvLFRYrE
I Have Nothing (Whitney Houston)
Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” is the perfect dramatic love song because of the incredible instrumental music arrangement and Whitney’s impeccable vocals.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow? (Bee Gees)
Numerous artists have interpreted Carole King and Gerry Coffin’s classic song over the years including Patti LaBelle, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, the late Amy Winehouse and American Idol’s James Durbin. But the best recording of this song belongs to the Bee Gees, who recorded the song for the 1995 Tapestry Revisited tribute album. King called their cover of her hit-the definitive “Will You Love Me Tomorrow.”

Can You Feel the Love Tonight (Elton John)
When Sir Elton John recorded “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” for The Lion King, he perfectly weaved a powerful message about love and hope that gave film viewers and music lovers goose bumps. Unfortunately for the songs’ fans, the British Piano Man does not perform the song that often but when he does, it always puts a smile to fans’ faces.

I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing (Aerosmith)
While this song was released as part of the Armageddon soundtrack, this Diane Warren and Joe Perry-penned song breathed new life into the band and lead singer Steven Tyler. “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” is the perfect song for a slow dance.

Music of My Heart (Gloria Estefan & *NSYNC)
During the end of the 1990s, one of the best boy bands of the decade collaborated with Gloria Estefan on the Diane Warren-David Foster song “Music of My Heart” which was featured on the 1999 drama Music of the Heart’s soundtrack. This song featured flawless vocals from Estefan and a terrific blend of harmonies from the *NSYNC guys.
