If you ask my honest opinion about The Voice: Season Six’s Final Five, this is the show’s weakest quintet Season Three!
One of the most powerful singers in Voice history was wrongfully eliminated last week and should be there instead of a certain overweight Scotty McCreery wannabe or a particular YouTube star that has a huge disadvantage with a huge social media fanbase.
There are only a few worthy candidates to join the ranks of Javier Colon, Cassadee Pope and Tessanne Chin in the Voice’s Winner’s Circle! Hopefully, their fans can rally and send them into the finals!
Now without further ado, The Top Five took the stage to represent their coaches in next week’s finale! Who rose to the top? Who will go home? Read on to find out…
Before the Top Five took the stage, Usher set the stage ablaze with the debut of “Good Kisser.” He rocked the stage with his pitch perfect vocals and his outstanding choreography! Can we have Usher return the stage before the finale?
After Usher left the stage, Carson Daly set the ground rules! Each member of the Final Five performed a song selected by their coach and a song that reminded each of them of home.
Team Shakira’s last girl standing, Kristen Merlin, dedicated Miranda Lambert’s “Gunpowder & Lead” to all of her supports in Hanson, Mass. This song has been covered multiple times on Reality TV. I thought that Kristen’s cover was at the same level of excellence that Jessica Meuse delivered a couple of weeks ago on Idol. She showed off a strong vocal presence and great moves. In addition, I loved hearing her vibrato. A-
Josh Kaufman dedicated John Legend’s “All of Me” to his family! From the moment the background music started, I got chills. By having photos of his family on the stage, it really made the viewer get to know Josh as a person. Not only was that performance a brilliant piece of vocal nirvana, but it was also the best male vocal of the season! A+
Kat Perkins made Voice history as the artist being the one to stop the elimination curse! She tackled Sia’s latest single: “Chandelier.” I thought it was going to be a train wreck. I only heard a few pitch problems in the song, but it was valiant effort. B-
Team Blake’s Jake Worthington charmed America last week and was voted through to this round. First of all, Sisaundra and Audra have more talent in their pinkies than Jake. If this was Mr. Nice Guy, Jake would walk away with this contest hands down. However, this is The Voice and I think his version of Waylon Jennings’s “Good Ol’ Boys” was very amateurish! He needs to vamos from the show IMMEDIATELY!!! D
Christina Grimmie closed out round one with her coach selection! The Maroon 5 frontman chose Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek.” This was a huge risk because it was also Christina’s first time using the vocoder. The risk paid off as Christina delivered her best performance on the show! B+
Josh Kaufman kicked off Round Two with his coach selection. The “Good Kisser” singer chose One Republic’s “Love Runs Out” for the family man. While I loved seeing Josh rock out, it was very hard for him to top his first performance. No matter what happens, I know that Josh has a career ahead of him. B
One of the oddest song selections of the night was Kat Perkins’s “Let It Go.” However, it made sense after she stated that she is singing the Frozen smash in honor of the family that she nannies! I loved the rock arrangement and I think Idina Menzel would be proud of that performance. Also, someone needs to show this performance to Majesty Rose, so she can learn from the master of this cover! A-
I think no one has fought harder to get to this stage than Kristen Merlin. I really would like to see her in the finale! Her performance of Jewel’s “Foolish Games” broke my heart. Her soothing vocals gave me goose bumps and this was her ticket to next week’s finale. A
Christina Grimmie dedicated “Some Nights” to her friends in her hometown! While it was a great song to dance in your seat, it was not a finale worthy performance! The vocals to Fun.’s “Some Nights” were very screechy and it would be a shame to see next week! F
Jake Worthington closed the show with Bryan Adams’ “Heaven.” I needed the ear muffs for that pitiful performance. I felt very annoyed by his vocals and Jake needs some fine-tuning before he joins the ranks of the country elite. D
Tomorrow night, Tessanne Chin, Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin return to “The Voice” stage as we find out which artists will be competing in next week’s finale!
