I am delighted to welcome back actress, comedian, and writer Gina Brillon to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Gina Brillon was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. The Puerto Rican actress, comedian, writer, and mom has been a stand-up comedian since she was 17. Her sophomore one-hour Amazon Prime Video special, Gina Brillon: The Floor is Lava, won a Gracie Award in 2021 and was nominated for an Imagen Award.
Her half-hour special, Easily Offended, was one of the top shows from HBO Latino’s Entre Nos franchises and streams on all HBO digital platforms. Gina appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and The View. She also starred in episodes of ABC’s The Conners and CBS’s Kevin Can Wait.
In 2012, Gina Brillon became the first (and only) Latina winner of NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity Showcase. The following year, the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival named Gina a “new face.” Her writing appeared in The New York Daily News and The New York Post. She also co-hosted the Mess in Progress: The Homegirls Guide to Self-Help podcast with Katherine G. Mendoza.
Gina became a household name when she auditioned for America’s Got Talent (AGT) in 2021. Her comedy received four “Yeses” from judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum. Her humor impressed the country, and she became the first Latina comedian to reach the AGT season finale.
In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Gina Brillon spoke on how AGT changed her life, starring in Disney+’s Dashing Through the Snow alongside Lil Rel Howery and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and helping comedians harness their craft with her stand-up comedy workshops.
