Happy New Music Friday! We got a lot of new music to unpack, so let’s start this party!
“Heaven On Their Minds” by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber & Adam Lambert
Recently, Adam Lambert played the iconic role of Judas in the Hollywood Bowl production of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar. The Queen frontman and former Voice Australia coach covered “Heaven on Their Minds.” Adam delivered an impeccable vocal performance as Judas, and he transported us to the Roman Empire, where the historical and religious figure forewarns his friend about the forthcoming dangers. “The Subway” by Chappell Roan
Chappell Roan dropped her second single of 2025! The “Pink Pony Club” songstress reunited with frequent collaborator Dan Nigro, who also produced the song, to co-write this dream pop anthem. “The Subway” has shades of classic 90s/early 2000s songstresses such as Dido and Enya, while incorporating a catchy and hypnotic chorus. “This Right Here” by Ciara featuring Latto & Jazze Pha
Ciara will be dropping her highly anticipated blockbuster album, CiCi, on August 22! She teamed up with Latto and Jazze Pha for “This Right Here.” All three artists co-wrote this R&B banger with Ludacris, Jourdin Paulie, Quinton Gray, Shondrae Crawford, Theron Thomas, and William Hood. “This Right Here” could be the daughter of Janet Jackson’s “Someone to Call My Lover,” as it gives off the same irresistible aura. “business” by The Dream Eaters
My friends, The Dream Eaters, are back! Elizabeth Lebaron and Jake Zavracky released a new song called “business,” and it is a synth-pop spectacular that focuses on the “business of love.” A
“Bottomland” by HARDY
HARDY will drop his fourth studio album, Country! Country!, on September 26. One of the singles off the “Quit!” singer-songwriter’s record is the haunting “Bottomland.” The chorus, “Bury me in Bottomland, with my grandpa’s rifle in my hand. Lord, just take me as I am. And buy me in Bottomland,” will tug at the listeners’ heartstrings. “Bottomland” is one of 2025’s most powerful country music songs. A-
“Fade” by Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson is going country! Nashville Canyon’s first part surprised fans and critics alike! The fashion mogul and former Reality TV star’s second volume of Nashville Canyon is expected to drop two days after my birthday (September 5). “Fade” is the first offering from this EP. While there are shades of familiar country rock classics such as Sheryl Crow’s “Soak Up the Sun,” it might take fans a while to accept and fall in love with “Fade.” C+
