I am honored to welcome Reality TV star, singer, and radio host Amara La Negra as my guest for the 125th milestone episode of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Amara La Negra started her career at a very early age. She won Sabato Gigante’s “Miss Chiquita” contest in 1994, which helped her land appearances on commercials for Hawaiian Punch, Oscar Mayer, and Walt Disney World. She was also a part of special broadcasts for the Latin Grammy Awards, Premios Lo Nuestro, and the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Amara was launched into a new level of superstardom when she became the “breakout star” of VH1’s Love and Hip Hop: Miami. Her time on the show led her to become a guest co-host for The Real and hosted BET Experience Live. She also appeared on covers for various publications such as People En Español, Latina Magazine, and Rolling Out Magazine. In 2019, Amara also competed on Univision’s Mira Quien Baila All-Stars, where she took home second place. Currently, Amara hosts the weekly Exactly Amara show on iHeartMedia. She gets personal with co-host Stevey Newnez on topics ranging from body positivity and dating to social media and sex.
In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Amara La Negra talked about the lessons she learned on Love & Hip-Hop Miami that helped her prepare for the latest chapter of her career. Plus, Amara spoke about the stories surrounding her biggest hits, such as “Insecure,” “What a Bam Bam,” and “Balloons.”
