This is it! Welcome to The Masked Singer: Season 11 Finale!
After weeks of shocking eliminations, powerful performances, and questionable guesses (I am looking at you, Ken Jeong), we are down to Goldfish and Gumball! Tonight, the Season 11 Final Two returned to the stage and sang two songs for their chance to win the Golden Mask.
Which performer was forced to join the likes of Kevin Hart, Charlie Wilson, Jenifer Lewis, Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken, Chrissy Metz, and Thelma Houston in the Masked Singer: Season 11 elimination club? Who joined T-Pain, Kandi Burress, LeAnn Rimes, Nick Lachey, Amber Riley, and Ne-Yo in the Winners’ Circle?
Did the panelists (Ken, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora) manage to crack the code and correctly deduce the identities of the final two undercover celebrities? The answer lies ahead, so keep reading!
After Nick and the final two masked celebrities made their grand entrances, the Gumball started the finale, revealing that he survived two smackdowns and two Battle Royales throughout the season. He admitted that he had been on television for two decades and wanted to continue to perform after this experience. The Season 11 fighter sang Disclosure and Sam Smith’s “Latch,“ he delivered a superb vocal performance that included beatboxing. The panel went through their guessing journey throughout the season, ranging from Rita’s 50 Shades of Gray co-star Jamie Donan to former SNL star Taran Killam to X-Men star James Marsden. Both Robin and Jenny thought it was Derek Hough. Rita thought Gumball was Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Goldfish returned to The Masked Singer stage. She went on a journey of self-discovery and revealed that she came from a working-class family. I still believe that Goldfish is the one and only Vanessa Hudgens. She sang Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” I loved hearing her voice’s rock edge. The panel’s journey ranged from Lea Michele and Vanessa Hudgens (right on, Rita) to Selena Gomez and Julianne Hough to Hillary Duff and Nicole Scherzinger.
Nick instructed Rita to hit the Blue Button for the final Prime Delivery of the season. After Jenny opened the package, Rita lifted the Golden Mask Trophy out of the box. Gumball’s final performance on The Masked Singer stage was Styx’s “Renegade.” I loved that he started the performance A cappella and showcased his falsetto. Gumball dedicated the final performance to his parents, who were in a rock band.
Goldfish had the final performance of The Masked Singer: Season 11! She chose Elton John’s “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” and immediately I got chills. But I also thought about that song’s history with Reality TV as it caused multiple singers such as Clay Aiken, Bo Bice, David Archuleta, Pia Toscano, and Sisaundra Lewis to lose their respective shows. Hopefully, Vanessa H…I mean, Goldfish can undo the “DLTSGDOM” curse.
After the studio audience and panel voted, Nick read one more clue – both Gumball and Goldfish were former co-stars before he read the results. The winner of Masked Singer: Season 11 was…GOLDFISH!!!!!
As Goldfish took her winners’ throne, it was time for the final guess. Jenny and Robin doubled down their Derek Hough guess, while Ken suggested Taran Killiam. Rita’s guess was Joseph Gordon-Levitt. GUMBALL WAS ACTOR SCOTT PORTER! After Scott revealed that he served as the baseball coach on Nick Cannon’s son’s team and reprised “Carry On Wayward Son,” it was time for Goldfish’s unmasking.
Rita tripled down her guess of Vanessa Hudgens, Ken was still on the Nicole Scherzinger train. Jenny joined Rita in guessing on Vanessa Hudgens, while Robin Thicke still thought it was Hillary Duff. RITA, JENNY & I WERE RIGHT…. VANESSA HUDGENS was GOLDFISH!!!!
