It is a pleasure to welcome actress and singer Sasha Allen to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Sasha Allen began her career when she was cast as Dee in the 2003 cult film Camp and won audiences over on VH1’s Born to Diva. Throughout the 2000s, Sasha sang background vocals for Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. In 2009, she portrayed Dionne in the 2009 revival of Broadway classic Hair at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. In 2010, she reprised the role when she joined the West End revival.
In 2013, Sasha Allen returned to Reality TV to compete on the fourth season of NBC’s singing competition, The Voice. She caught all four coaches’ attention (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, and Usher) in the Blind Auditions round with her powerful interpretation of the Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice.” She selected the Maroon 5 frontman to be her coach, but sadly he eliminated her during the Battle Rounds. Thankfully, Shakira stole her, and Sasha went all the way to the Live Rounds, where she made it to the Semifinals rounds.
After her Voice experience, Sasha toured across the United States in the revival of the Broadway musical: Pippin. She landed the role of “The Leading Player.” In 2016, she joined the Rolling Stones on their America Latina Ole Tour as a backing vocalist. During the tour, she sang the iconic “Gimme Shelter” with Mick Jagger. On that tour, the Rolling Stones performed in front of 500,000 people at Havana’s Ciudad Deportiva de La Habana in Cuba.
In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Sasha spoke about performing with the Rolling Stones in Cuba and revealed if she was interested in returning to The Voice if the show incorporated an All-Stars or Champions format.
